Course objectives

  1. Explain which standards each Moraph healthcare product uses to exchange data, and where the Integration Engine sits between them
  2. Read and specify HL7 v2 and FHIR interfaces, including message types, triggers, mappings and error handling
  3. Take an interface from request to production through Moraph's reviewed, tested and approved release process
  4. Configure payer flows in the Referral & Prior Auth Gateway across X12 270/271, X12 278, payer APIs and portal hand-off
  5. Connect Cloud Fax, Remote Patient Monitoring and Ambulance Run Data Sync to the EHR without bypassing person-confirmed steps
  6. Work failed, queued and silent flows to an outcome, and decide when and how messages are reprocessed
  7. Account for where PHI flows, who can see message content, and who decides when something goes wrong

Before the course

  • You have completed Moraph foundations and can sign in to the Moraph Portal and support.moraph.com
  • You work on interfaces, EHR integration or application administration for a healthcare organization that uses, or plans to use, Moraph's healthcare products
  • You are familiar with the basic idea of an EHR interface, such as admissions or results being sent between systems

Module 1: Standards and the integration layer (42 min)

LessonType and timeLearners will be able toActivity and assessment
How Moraph's healthcare products exchange dataReading
10 min
  • Name the data standard each Moraph healthcare product uses for its main flows
  • Explain where the Integration Engine sits between products, the EHR and partners
  • Separate what Moraph runs, what a vendor runs and what your organization owns in a flow
Reading
Specifying HL7 v2 and FHIR interfacesReading
12 min
  • Choose between an HL7 v2 message flow and a FHIR interface for a given exchange
  • Write an interface specification that covers source, destination, message types, triggers, mappings and failure handling
  • Explain how mappings translate identifiers and code sets between systems
Reading
Building and releasing interfaces safelyReading
12 min
  • Take an interface from request to production through the build and release workflow
  • Identify who must approve or confirm each step, including new external PHI flows
  • Explain when the emergency change process applies and what happens afterwards
Reading
Module 1 knowledge checkAssessment
8 min
  • Check your understanding of the standards Moraph's products use and the interface release process

Module 2: Payer, fax, device and EMS flows (1 hr)

LessonType and timeLearners will be able toActivity and assessment
X12 transactions and payer APIsReading
13 min
  • Describe how the Referral & Prior Auth Gateway uses X12 270/271 and 278 through your clearinghouse
  • Set the submission route for each payer, X12 278, payer API or portal hand-off, and know what each depends on
  • Connect the Gateway's EHR intake, documentation retrieval and write-back interfaces
Reading
Fax as an integration flowReading
11 min
  • Design routing from fax numbers to EMR inboxes, queues and approved mailboxes
  • Connect Cloud Fax delivery to the EMR directly or through the Integration Engine
  • Explain why routing never files a fax to a chart and how the fallback queue and daily delivery check protect documents
Reading
Device readings and EMS run dataReading
13 min
  • Trace a home device reading from the device to the care team dashboard and the EHR
  • Trace EMS run data from an agency's ePCR system to a filed run report on the encounter
  • Explain why patient identity in both flows depends on enrollment or a person-confirmed match
Reading
Practical: specify a new flowPractical exercise
15 min
  • Write a complete interface specification for a cross-product flow
  • Identify the approvals and tests the flow needs before release
Practical exercise with a checklist
Module 2 knowledge checkAssessment
8 min
  • Check your understanding of payer, fax, device and EMS data flows
5 questions · pass mark 70% · unlimited attempts

Module 3: Operating flows safely (1 hr 5 min)

LessonType and timeLearners will be able toActivity and assessment
Monitoring flows and working failed messagesReading
13 min
  • Set monitoring thresholds for queue depth, errors and silence according to an interface's importance
  • Classify a failed message as an interface, network or source-data fault and route it to the right owner
  • Apply the reprocessing rule and handle duplicates safely
Reading
Accounting for PHI across flowsReading
12 min
  • Use the interface inventory and PHI flow register to answer where patient data goes
  • Control who can view message content, and run an access review
  • Respond correctly when a flow sends data to the wrong system, partner, department or patient
Reading
Troubleshooting across products and vendorsReading
12 min
  • Locate where a cross-product flow stopped before raising a ticket
  • Route a problem to Moraph, a platform vendor, a partner or your own team according to who owns that part of the flow
  • Choose a severity from the impact using Moraph's product-specific examples
Reading
Module 3 knowledge checkAssessment
8 min
  • Check your understanding of monitoring, reprocessing, PHI governance and troubleshooting
5 questions · pass mark 70% · unlimited attempts
Final assessmentAssessment
20 min
  • Show that you can design, release, operate and troubleshoot healthcare data flows across Moraph's products
12 of 18 questions · pass mark 80% · 3 attempts

Completing the course

Every lesson must be completed: reading lessons are marked complete by the learner, exercises when every checklist item is confirmed, and assessments only when passed. Completing the course issues a certificate of completion with a verification code.
