About this course

Healthcare data moves between systems in many forms: HL7 v2 messages from the EHR, FHIR resources from newer applications and payer APIs, X12 transactions through your clearinghouse, faxed page images, readings from home devices and EMS run reports in the NEMSIS format. Moraph's healthcare products use all of them, and the Integration Engine service, run on Mirth Connect or Rhapsody, is often the layer that carries them to and from your EHR. This course shows how those flows fit together and how to design, release and operate them without losing track of where patient data goes.

The course is written for implementers and administrators: the people who specify interfaces, approve and test changes, connect products to the EHR and work failed messages with Moraph. It follows the processes and responsibilities set out in Moraph's product documentation. Your organization still decides which data flows where, approves every production change and makes clinical and breach decisions; this course shows you how to do that well.

What you’ll be able to do

  • Explain which standards each Moraph healthcare product uses to exchange data, and where the Integration Engine sits between them
  • Read and specify HL7 v2 and FHIR interfaces, including message types, triggers, mappings and error handling
  • Take an interface from request to production through Moraph's reviewed, tested and approved release process
  • Configure payer flows in the Referral & Prior Auth Gateway across X12 270/271, X12 278, payer APIs and portal hand-off
  • Connect Cloud Fax, Remote Patient Monitoring and Ambulance Run Data Sync to the EHR without bypassing person-confirmed steps
  • Work failed, queued and silent flows to an outcome, and decide when and how messages are reprocessed
  • Account for where PHI flows, who can see message content, and who decides when something goes wrong

Skills you’ll gain

  • HL7 v2 and FHIR interface specification
  • Interface change and release control
  • X12 eligibility and prior authorization flows
  • Clinical document, device and EMS data integration
  • Interface monitoring and error resolution
  • PHI flow governance

Before you start

  • You have completed Moraph foundations and can sign in to the Moraph Portal and support.moraph.com
  • You work on interfaces, EHR integration or application administration for a healthcare organization that uses, or plans to use, Moraph's healthcare products
  • You are familiar with the basic idea of an EHR interface, such as admissions or results being sent between systems
  • Recommended first: Moraph foundations: technology for high-stakes work

What completion gives you

Complete every lesson and pass each assessment to complete the course. You then get a completion record in My learning, and a certificate of completion you can print or share, with a code anyone can check at academy.moraph.com/verify.

Completion is not certification

Course completion records and certificates of completion show that a person completed a Moraph Academy course. They are not a Moraph certification (which needs the certification exam), a professional license or an accreditation, and they do not authorize anyone to configure, operate, resell or support Moraph products on Moraph’s or anyone else’s behalf.
