About this course

The Permitting & Licensing Accelerator gives applicants a guided online application that works out which permit or license they need, what to submit and what it will cost. It gives your staff one place to check completeness, route plan review, take fees, schedule inspections and issue or renew, with every step recorded and visible to the applicant. This course follows one application through that whole journey, from both sides of the counter.

The first module explains the lifecycle, the roles and the applicant's experience. The second covers intake, parallel review and fees, and includes a practical exercise. The third covers inspections, issuance, renewals and the configuration administrators maintain from your codes. Every example uses fictional applicants, addresses and amounts; the permit types, fees and rules in your agency are the ones your administrators have configured.

What you’ll be able to do

  • Explain how an application moves from the applicant wizard to an issued permit or active license, and who acts at each stage
  • Check an application for completeness and either route it to review or return it with a specific request
  • Work a review for your discipline in parallel with other disciplines, and handle resubmittals round by round
  • Explain how fees are calculated, paid through your processor, and adjusted, waived or refunded with a second person's approval
  • Request, record and follow up inspections, then issue permits and process license renewals
  • Describe how administrators turn local codes and fee schedules into permit types, wizard questions, checklists and allowed moves, and test changes safely
